ZATOKREV
was founded in april 2002 in Basel. Although the first album (tracked in their own rehearsal room) was only intended for demo-purposes, the band immediately got offered various deals, and finally released the record in 2004/2005 on Codebreaker, Earache and Division Records. The following Bury The Ashes got released through Firebox Records/Finland in 2007, while the third The Bat, The Wheel And The Long Road To Nowhere finally got a world wide release in 2012 on the UK based cult-label Candlelight Records. Zatokrev have claimed stages on countless tours and festivals all over europe, while gaining the status of an intense live act. The numerous line-up changes throughout these years did not harm the creative output of the band: Drawing from their Sludge/Heavy-Background, the band is now a lot more open to experimentation, and does not hesitate to expand towards Doom, Death- and Black-Metal, as well as even Psychedelic Rock – So it’s no coincidence that also the lyrics and the artwork both bend towards more metaphorical themes. 2014 saw the recording of the new album Silk Spiders Underwater… at the infamous Rec Studio in Geneva with Serge Morattel and finally mixing and mastering by Raphaël Bovey (Just as the predecessing album). The 65 minutes worth of new material feature denser songwriting and variations in dynamics and arrangements. The first of two conceptual albums, Silk Spiders Underwater…, was released in 2015 on Candlelight Records.
WOLF COUNSEL wurde 2014 von zwei Veteranen der Underground-Szene aus der Taufe gehoben. Pate standen monumentale, tiefgestimmte Soundcollagen und
ri orientierte Grooves. Heavy, bretthart und DOOM sollte es werden, ohne dabei
aber Melodien und Harmonien ausser Acht zu lassen.
Zu Anfang experimentierte man noch mit Ein üssen aus 70er und 80er Jahre- Proto-Doom, aber auch mit Sludgeelementen und klassischen Metalhooks. Es entwickelte sich sehr bald eine eigene Handschrift, welche keinem Retro-Trend folgte, sondern sich ganz klar an allem orientierte, was langsam, bretthart und HEAVY ist. Eine vollständige Besetzung für weitere Liveshows formierte sich ebenfalls recht schnell, nachdem der Grundstein gelegt war.
Im Januar 2015 erschien dann das Debut-Album "Vol. I - Wolf Counsel", welches
digital, auf Vinyl und CD von Counsel Records und Dead Center Productions veröffentlicht wurde. Der kreative Fluss hatte schon direkt nach der Veröffentlichung des Debuts kein Erbarmen... Nach wenigen Monaten war das zweite Album “IRONCLAD“ geschrieben und im eigenen Demostudio vorproduziert. Die nale Produktion der 7 Songs wurde dann im Little Creek Studio (u.a. Destruction, Panzer, GurD, Emerald, Palmer) bei Basel (CH) mit V.O. Pulver (GurD, Panzer, Poltergeist) aufgenommen, gemischt und produziert.
Im September 2016 wird die zweite Heavy Doom- / Metal Walze von Czar Of Bullets verö entlicht.
WOLF COUNSEL’s Musik wurde bereits mit der Verö entlichung des Debut-Albums von diversen Druck- und Onlinemagazinen als „sehr authentisch“ und „elegant klassisch“ bezeichnet. Auch Vergleiche zu einer „nicht enden wollenden,
beschwörenden Ri -Urgewalt“ und einem „rasiermesserscharfen Groove, gepaart mit ergreifenden, erdrückenden Gesangsharmonien“ waren keine Seltenheit.
